TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR TUITION AT JOYFUL SOUND ACADEMY OF MUSIC

Joyful Sound Academy of Music (JSAM) Terms and Conditions
Please note that while we endeavour to give you the highest level of service, the following policy and procedures are non negotiable and are set in place to maintain stability and consistency in the running of Joyful Sound Academy of Music. These conditions have been written with the goal of being as fair as possible to both our students and our tutors.
ENROLMENT
Enrolment automatically rolls over into each term/year unless cancelled. 14 days written notice for cancellation.
PAYMENT
Payment is needed to secure your lesson spot for each term. Payment is needed at the latest, in Week 1 of each school term.
Non-payment will be referred to debt collection. Debt collection fees will be passed on to the customer.
MISSED LESSONS
All lessons will resume the following term and charged unless notification has been made by the end of the previous term. If your child is going to be absent for any reason, 24 hours notice must be given or the lesson will be forfeited. A maximum of 1 make-up lesson will be offered per term (excludes group classes), subject to availability and may occur in a group. Lessons cannot be cancelled in the last week of
term due to the inability to reschedule the lesson. If you know that you are going to be away for the last week of term, please ask to reschedule that lesson with us in advance. Credit will only be given in the unlikely event of a teacher absence.
WEEKLY
Lessons are weekly. Fortnightly/Casual options not available.
GENERAL
Please be punctual for your lessons. Lessons are held back-to-back and we will not be able to extend your time slot.
In the event of a student requiring urgent medical treatment during a lesson, JSAM would arrange this at the expense of the student or the parent/caregiver.
JSAM will take all reasonable care during lessons to ensure your well-being. However, we are not liable for any loss, damage or injury incurred while attending lessons on any premises.
SICKNESS
All staff reserve the right to refuse services if a student turns up to a lesson sick. Please do not send sick children to lessons as it puts our staff and other students at risk of illness. Please notify your teacher via email joyfulsoundam@gmail.com
LOST PROPERTY
We will take all care in regard to all lost property, but will not accept responsibility for any
items left or broken in the studio.
MEDICATION
Please note that Joyful Sound Academy of Music will NOT under
any circumstances accept responsibility for administering medication of any type,
including non-prescription medication.
TERM DATES
Term dates can be found here.
Term 1: Monday 23 January – Friday 31 March (10 weeks)
Term 2: Tuesday 18 April – Friday 23 June (10 weeks)
Term 3: Monday 10 July – Friday 15 September (10 weeks)
Term 4: Monday 2 October – Friday 8 December (10 weeks)
CANCELLATION FEE
In the event of ending your lessons before the end of term, we have to apply a Cancellation Fee to cover our costs. A Cancellation Fee of $80 applies.
LOCATIONS
Brisbane.
PRICING
Lessons are purchased in blocks to align with the school terms, up front. Students who start mid-way through a term will only be invoiced from their start date to the end of term. Lessons are weekly. There is no option for fortnightly sessions.

Our teaching schedule follows the academic year of Queensland schools. The term dates for 2023 are as follows:

Australia Day – Thursday 26 January
Good Friday – Friday 14 April
Easter Monday – Monday 17 April
ANZAC Day – Tuesday 25 April
Queen's Birthday – Monday 2 October
Christmas Day – Monday 25 December
Boxing Day – Tuesday 26 December

INDIVIDUAL ABILITY
Every individual has unique musical abilities. While we strive to provide a supportive learning environment to enhance those abilities, we cannot guarantee that every student will become proficient in music. Personal ability is not something we can change or control, and the responsibility to improve one's abilities lies with the student.
COMPLAINTS
Please raise concerns directly with your music instructor. If not resolved, contact Joyful Sound Academy of Music administration at
joyfulsoundam@gmail.com. A dedicated staff member will conduct a thorough investigation and propose a fair and satisfactory resolution. We value your feedback to continuously improve our services.
DISCLAIMER
Joyful Sound Academy of Music (from now on, Joyful Sound Academy of Music will be referred to as JSAM), is not liable for any injury or harm that may occur during lessons or events held on the premises or elsewhere. Students and their families participate at their own risk.
JSAM reserves the right to change the schedule of lessons, events, or classes at any time. Every effort will be made to provide advance notice of any changes.
Lesson fees are non-refundable, and payment must be made in advance. The music academy does not guarantee the availability of lesson times until payment has been received.
All course materials and resources provided by JSAM are protected by copyright and may not be reproduced or distributed without permission.
JSAM does not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability status in its programs, services, or activities.
JSAM reserves the right to take photos and videos of students and events for promotional purposes. If a student or their parent/guardian objects to the use of their image, they should notify JSAM in writing.
JSAM reserves the right to terminate a student's enrolment at any time for any reason, including but not limited to failure to comply with academy policies or disruptive behaviour. Parents or guardians are responsible for the supervision of their children outside of lesson times. JSAM is not responsible for any accidents or incidents that occur on the premises or elsewhere.
It is the responsibility of students and their families to inform the music academy of any health or medical conditions that may affect their participation in lessons or events. The music academy reserves the right to refuse enrolment or participation if it deems it unsafe or impractical.
Students are responsible for providing their own instruments for lessons and events, unless otherwise agreed upon with JSAM. JSAM is not responsible for damage or loss of personal instruments.
JSAM is not liable for any loss or damage to personal property, or for any injury or harm that may occur on the premises or during lessons or events.
Recording of lessons or events is not permitted without prior permission from the music academy and the consent of all parties involved.
Students and their families are expected to adhere to a code of conduct that promotes respect, responsibility, and a safe and positive learning environment. JSAM reserves the right to take disciplinary action for any behavior that violates this code.
JSAM may refer students to other service providers, such as music stores or instrument repair shops. The music academy is not responsible for the services provided by such third-party providers.
JSAM reserves the right to make changes to these terms and conditions at any time without notice. It is the responsibility of the student and their families to review these terms periodically and to comply with any changes.
JSAM is not responsible for managing the claiming process through the NDIS for JSAM lessons. Lesson fees are paid upfront or on the day by the student, and to claim the fees through the NDIS, the student or plan manager provides us with the specific code to include on the invoice. After the lesson is paid for, it is the responsibility of the carer, support worker, parent, or plan manager to pass on the invoice to the NDIS for reimbursement. The music academy is not responsible for any delays, errors, or denials of reimbursement from the NDIS.
JSAM is for self-managed NDIS plans only. It does not guarantee that all services provided will be covered by the NDIS. The NDIS may only fund services that are reasonable and necessary for a participant's support needs, as determined by the NDIS. The music academy cannot guarantee that any particular service will be funded by the NDIS or that the NDIS will approve a participant's plan

JSAM takes participant safety very seriously and will take all reasonable steps to ensure the safety and well-being of its students. However, students with certain medical conditions or disabilities may require special accommodations or supervision during lessons or events. JSAM is not responsible for any injury or harm that may result from a participant's failure to disclose such conditions or limitations, or from the failure of the participant or their support team to provide adequate accommodations or supervision.
